Google: "Please make your graphics worse or else"

Google Play is asking developers to downgrade their apps and games

In a new post, Google Play is asking developers to downgrade their apps and games and make them worse. If you don't downgrade your game, you might get your publishing rights removed or be demoted on the store.

Path of Titans is already optimized and runs in 3 GB of RAM, even on a 16 GB phone. We are not downgrading our graphics or making our game worse to meet some arbitrary RAM requirement that you don't even list, you don't even tell us how much to reduce by.

A modern phone is as strong and powerful as a Nintendo Switch, it even has more RAM. You have no right to tell people what apps they are allowed to install or how to use the RAM that they paid for, all because of an issue you created with your own AI datacenters.

I get google doesn't care about games, they already downgrade pixel phones to have worse GPU performance year over year, but this is something else.

Actions we are taking

Moving away from Google Play and hosting on other stores: If Google continues to engage in this predatory behavior to make user devices worse and punish games for having high resolution textures and a good looking game, we will simply self-host an APK for download on our site and pull the game from Google Play.

I have never been so disapointed and upset about something since Intel was selling defective CPUs to gamers and lied about it and covered it up.
